Alliance for Affordable Services Achieves Legislative Victory for its Members with Passage of Small Business Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 27, 2010 — Alliance for Affordable Services is celebrating the passage of H.R. 5297, the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010, as a legislative victory for its members and small-business owners nationwide. The Act, which President Obama will sign into law today, includes several components that the Alliance and its membership supported, such as increased access to capital and targeted tax credits that include an historic first — allowing the self-employed to receive a tax credit for health care expenditures.

Over the past year, the Alliance has worked with the Senate Finance and Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committees to advocate for passage of this legislation. “I thank Alliance for Affordable Services and the hundreds of groups who helped us pass this bill, as well as leadership of the Senate and House, Senators Voinovich and LeMieux and the President,” commented Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), chair of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. “It is a win for small businesses and our families in need of jobs and paychecks.”
