Congressman Jim Cooper Meets with Association Members in Nashville

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 26, 2010 — Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-05) met with members of the Alliance for Affordable Services on October 22 in Nashville. More than 30 Alliance members and their guests took advantage of this unique event.

Attendees engaged in a lively question and answer session with Rep. Cooper covering hot button issues such as the economy, government spending, and health care reform. The congressman also fielded questions about the recently passed Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010, which included several components supported by Alliance Members, such as increased access to capital and targeted tax credits.

“I’m a big fan of small-business owners in Middle Tennessee,” said Congressman Jim Cooper. “Small businesses are the engine of our economy and we need to continue to do everything we can to support their success.”

The Alliance legislative advocacy program focuses on providing members with tools to contact their legislators and the opportunity to voice their opinions on current issues. The association has hosted similar events in California, Florida, and Georgia.

“The Alliance does not support specific legislators or a specific party,” explained Dr. Paul Pevsner, association president. “We believe that the most important thing is for our members to be informed about critical legislative issues that could impact them, their businesses and their families.”
